Licensing Technical Queries

We have a received a question relating to the role of the Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) and when they must be working on the premises.

The DPS is a personal licence holder who is appointed by the premises licence holder as the main point of contact for the premises.  They are the person in day-to-day control of the premises but will usually not have to be on the premises at all times when alcohol is being sold. It is sufficient for the DPS to be on the premises during their normal working hours.
