Centre registration and responsibilities

How much does Centre registration cost?
Centre registration is charged at £120 + VAT. In addition, there is a fee of £20 to register for each qualification offered.
How can a Centre offer additional qualifications?
Centres wishing to offer additional qualifications must inform HABC of their intentions to do so. Registration of additional qualifications is charged at £20 per qualification.
How do I monitor Centre performance?
Individual Centres along with HABC are responsible for monitoring the performance of the Centre. The HABC Auditing Procedure provides comprehensive details of the Auditing process and the relevant forms to complete.
What is Special Consideration?
Special Consideration may be granted in instances where, following a scheduled assessment, a candidate:

May have been disadvantaged by temporary illness, injury or other adverse circumstances arising at or near the time of assessment;

Who misses part of the assessment owing to circumstances beyond the candidate’s control.


If a candidate falls into either of these categories above, Special Consideration may result in a post assessment adjustment being made to the mark of the candidate in question.

How can I register to become an Approved HABC Centre?

Registering to become an Approved HABC Centre has never been easier. HABC has developed a step-by-step online process that can be accessed by clicking on the link below:

Here you will be provided with guidance notes to complete the application form. Once you start entering details, the website will automatically save the information you have entered. This allows you to break off and complete the application form later.

How quickly will the application form be processed?

Centre approval application forms submitted to HABC will be processed and Centre Contacts notified of the decision within 7 working days of receipt. We will however aim to provide this service quicker than this.

What is a Reasonable Adjustment?

A Reasonable Adjustment may be granted in circumstances which address and help to reduce the effect of a disability or difficulty which would substantially disadvantage a candidate during an examination or assessment situation.

How do I register to become an Approved HABC Centre if I work at a number of different venues?

Applications for Centre approval must contain details of a fixed address. This fixed address will be used to send all written correspondence including the despatch of certificates. It is the responsibility of the Centre Contact to ensure that Centres comply with the requirements stated in the Centre Code of Conduct and other HABC policy documents.
