The HABC Level 2 Award in Pool Lifeguarding (QCF) has been developed to meet the requirements of the HSE. This qualification provides the necessary skills and knowledge for learners who wish to be employed as a pool lifeguard.
This qualification is valid for two years and can be kept up to date with regular on-going training carried out by an approved training provider. When the qualification is due to expire, lifeguards are required to undergo the requalification to extend the qualification for another two years. This involves a renewal assessment and can be completed providing there is a signed record of regular on-site training taking place, with a minimum of 20 hours contact time. This requalification can be taken by learners whose qualification is due to expire, irrelevant of which Awarding Organisation they gain this through.
